BAY

Bay is a marking that primarily affects the legs, mane and tail of a Kirin, but may spread to cover all but the undersides and just near the nose and eye. This marking doesn't change the skin or eyecolour of the Kirin, which will display as it would normally for the colour.
This marking is always darker than the base or black, and should be close to the base in hue and saturation. Bay typically has rather gradiented edges that blend into the base coat smoothly. Bay is symmetrical and can not form shapes or patterns, cannot have holes and will never display in patches or spots.
The mane and tail match the colour of the marking on the body in colour, but may have slight fades to a lighter colour.
Minimal
Minimal Bay must at least cover the coronets, pasterns, knees and hocks of a Kirin and make them distinctly darker than the base.
The mane and tail must be matching in colour with the leg markings and should be largely darkened. Some fade of base colour can remain either near the roots or at the tips of the hair.
Eartips may or may not be affected.
Medium
Most commonly, Bay covers most of the legs past the knees and hocks, but may go higher up to the elbows and thighs.
The mane and tail may be fully darkened or retain fades of the base colour below near to roots or at the tips.
Eartips may or may not be affected.
Maximal
In its maximal expression, Bay darkens the entire Kirin, leaving only the undersides, the area around the muzzle and the area just below the eye unaffected.
The mane and tail are fully darkened and show no rest amount of base colour.
